The Las Vegas Dutch Oven Society put on a Dutch oven cooking
demonstration for the grand opening of the newest Sportsman's Warehouse
in Las Vegas. Jim, Dave, Scott and Joanne all came out to cook and talk
with the folks attending the opening. We cooked a nice variey of foods
throughout the day.![]() We started out by doing a Mountain Man breakfast. Next we put out three pots of cinnamon monkey bread with orange icing. As the clock moved towards lunch time we cooked up two pots of chili and a pot of corn bread. We had offered to make some pizza for the store staff, so we did five pizzas. As the last dish of the day, we did a simple peach/pineapple cobbler. The crowds really enjoyed our samples. Even the other vendors on the sidewalk told us how good everything smelled. This provided a great opportunity for us to talk with folks who are interested in outdoor activities. We handed out a lot of fliers so hopefully we will get some new members to join our chapter. Jim and David chat a bit before the crowds got too heavy. The pot on the left side of the cook table is the Mountain Man breakfast. The pot on the right is getting preheated so we can do the Cinnamon monkey bread. ![]() Scott is icing the monkey bread while David helps Joanne with the pizza preparation. ![]() Scott and David serving up the cornbread and chili. We got a lot of complements (and recipe requests) on the chili. ![]() Here's the two pizza ovens we'll use later to bake the pizzas. ![]() Joanne and David are talking with a couple of folks. This is one of the quiet times during the day. There was a line in front of our booth for a good part of the day. ![]() We are all busy getting ready for the next wave of tasters. ![]() Here's one of the pizzas almost ready for the oven. Add some pepperoni and veggies and it's ready for baking! Folks are amazed that you can make fresh pizza in a Dutch oven. ![]() Joanne and David cooking up some more food for the crowds. ![]() The managers at Sportsman's Warehouse told us that they received great feedback all day long about our food. Thanks to our members who came out and helped out! It was a great event by any measure. |
